The Fall Festival Dance Workshop for 2011 is just a little over a month away. The event is set for Oct 7 and 8. This year marks the 26th year that the club has been hosting the event. They are pleased to be working in conjunction with the Moose Lodge again this year. The large wood dance floor at the Moose Lodge provides a great dance experience. They collaborate with DCDC to hire one of the hottest local country-dance bands in the Sioux Falls area, Battle Creek Station, for Saturday night’s entertainment.
The dance instructors will once again perform a showcase dance during the first intermission on Saturday night. On Friday night after the lessons wrap up; the previous Boot recipients will present this year’s Boot Award. On hand to help make the presentation will be last year’s honorees Keith and Sue Pike. Afterwards, DCDC will provide a couple hours of good country music for dancing, allowing you an opportunity to warm up for Saturday’s workshops and practice what you learned earlier in the evening. The committee has spent many hours in preparation, which included securing six talented dance instructors. Making the trip from Owatonna MN are the featured instructors Brian and Lynette Dawley. They will be teaching Waltz, Two Step, Triple Two Step, Hustle, Cha Cha, and Night Club Two. Traveling from Sioux City IA, is Jess Acker. She will be teaching primary West Coast Swing. Jess has trained under and brought to the Sioux City area some of the most accomplished West Coast teachers in the USA. Jess has been instructing for 8 years. She will be teaching three different workshops oft he West Coast Swing starting with the basics with each workshop evolving to more advance moves.
Returning to the line-up of dances this year, will be instructions on the Hustle and several Line Dance classes. Our line dance instructor will be traveling to South Dakota from the east coast. Evelyn Ward is from Summerville SC. Evelyn has been teaching line dance since 1989. We are fortunate to have Evelyn as an instructor and hope that the community welcomes her by participating in her workshops.
Last but certainly not the least is the very talented local duo instructors, Kathy and Jerry Nusz. The duo be-gan their dancing career over 26 years ago. They currently teach lessons on Saturday night at Borrowed Bucks Road House and have been guest instructors at many of the club night out events this past year. Their talent and passion for country-dance is hard to match!
We hope that you take advantage of all the talent instructors and attend this year’s event. For information and pricing go to our Fall Fest tab on this website.
