My Oh My, where has this year gone, it seems like it should only be maybe about Labor Day! Ha Ha. With 2011 drawing to a close, I would like to wish each and everyone of you a joyous holiday season and a prosperous new year. It has been quite a year for DCDC, with our monthly club dances now being held at the Moose Lodge. What a wonderful dance floor and in general the facility is. In addition to that, our monthly club meetings are held the fourth Thursday of the month at the Lodge.

A lot of planning was done early in the year getting the details ready for our membership drive/dance, Summer Explosion dance, and Fall Fest.

First, the club welcomed the Midnight Sun Band to Sioux Falls from Rapid City in May. The four piece country band from the Black Hills did a great job playing old and new country. On a side note to Midnight Sun, they were inducted into the Legends of Country Music Hall of Fame in South Dakota this past September. Congratulations to them.

Our second big event was held in July. WestWind, a fabulous country band from North Central Nebraska, was on their northern tour and played for DCDC. This five piece band is gooooood!  Several of you already know that because you have help supported the five bus trips to Bushwackers in Omaha when WestWind was playing.

The clubs biggest event of the year is our Fall Fest. This year it was held on October 7th&8th. Six instructors, both guest and local, were on board to teach Friday night and all day Saturday. Several different dances were taught including two step, waltz, night club two, as well as others. Line dance lessons were added this year as a new twist and was very popular. The Saturday night dance closed with the Battle Creek Station Band playing. A great crowd enjoyed a great night of dancing. All in all it was a good year. We had bake sales, silent auctions, and a lot of decorating that was done for our events. I would like to thank the gals for baking for the bake sales, all of those who either made or donated items for our silent auctions. I would also like to thank my fellow officers/board members for a job well done! You all worked hard to make this year a success.

A special thank-you to Keith Pike who has been a leader in the club and has been the webmaster working with the website. After several years of fulfilling these duties, he has resigned to take a break from it all. Keith, thank-you!

Last but not least, Mike Ormseth resigned from the board this past fall. Mike has been a board member for almost two years and has been great with the camera at our special events. Mike, thank-you as well. If you have any thoughts or concerns talk to a board member and we will address it. We need our club members two support their club events. I mean not only our bigger yearly events but also our monthly club dances at the Lodge. Several of you pay your yearly dues but never show up!!!

As the old saying goes "If ya don't use it, you could loose it". Food for thought! See Ya in 2012, HAPPY DANCING.
